(Policy changes are announced separately in the occasional Operations Updates, which are issued as needed.) Outstanding Service at George Washington and Jefferson National Forest Project! The third week of ArrowCorps5 saw the completion of another outstanding project, trail building and improvement in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. As with the first two ArrowCorps5 projects, the service exceeded expectations and the participants had a great experience. ArrowCorps5 Manti-La Sal National Forest a Great Success
Congratulations to participants and staff at the second week of
ArrowCorps5 at Manti-La Sal National Forest in Utah! Approximately
13,000 acres, or 33 miles, of channel area around the Joe's Valley Reservoir
and Dry Wash on the Manti-La Sal National Forest and in the Buckhorn Wash
on Bureau of Land Management land were affected by the removal of tamarisk.
Tamarisk is an invasive species of evergreen shrub that depletes ground water
and brings salt to the surface soil.
Over 500 Arrowmen from 33 states, Japan, Taiwan, and Europe converged on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest this week to begin their five day ArrowCorps5project. "We have been anxiously awaiting their arrival and are very excited to see what the Arrowmen are capable of," said Alex Braden, Youth Incident Commander for the Shasta-Trinity Project. ArrowCorps5 Mark Twain National Forest Hailed as a Great Success Congratulations to the participants and staff of Mark Twain National Forest on an outstanding start to ArrowCorps5! Participants arrived early on June 7, 2008 at Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri to begin the first project of ArrowCorps5. 2008 Quality Lodge Petition Posted The 2008 Quality Lodge Petition is now posted for download. Lodges should review the requirements to obtain 2008 Quality Lodge Petition to plan activities in 2008. As Scouting's National Honor Society and as an integral part of every council, our service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults will be models of quality leadership development and programming that enriche lives of our members and help extend Scouting to America's youth. The 2008-2012 Strategic Plan focuses on these key traits assisting lodges with promoting these ideals and endeavors. Learn more about the Strategic Plan and how your lodge can assist your local council and the Boy Scouts of America with Living the Legacy. Quality Lodge Recipients for 2007 Every OA lodge has the opportunity to achieve the status of Quality Lodge. The requirements provide a guide for a successful lodge, addressing inductions, service, camp promotion, membership, events, and other aspects of lodge operation. The Quality Lodge program recognizes a level of excellence in lodge program and operation. Congratulations to the lodges that received this honor. 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference Dates Even with ArrowCorps5 just around the corner, many lodges have requested information on the date for the 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference.
