2009 National Planning Meeting
New National Officers elected and the 2010 OA Service Grant Recipients Announced.
OA High Adventure Update
The Order of the Arrow offers high adventure programs featuring opportunities for cheerful service. This tradition continues in the summer of 2010 with the OA Trail Crew (OATC) at Philmont and OA Wilderness Voyage (OAWV) and OA Canadian
Odyssey (OACO) both at Northern Tier. There are still slots available for
Arrowmen to participate in these once in a lifetime programs!
Power of One Toolkit Released
Although NOAC2009 is over, the theme and the concepts behind it have only just begun. It is because the national leadership feels so strongly about the value of this message that we are making available to sections and lodges a toolkit that could assist with local programming initiatives that reinforce THEPOWEROFONE. Capps Announces a Blocking and Tackling Focus on Supporting Units, Chapters, and Lodges
This morning at the national OA Steering Committee meeting in Dallas, Ray Capp, national OA committee chairman, announced an immediate reorganization and realignment of the national Order of the Arrow committee to provide focus on key areas. Click here to read about these changes in detail!
NOAC 2009 Training Material Posted
The National Order of the Arrow is pleased to announce the availability
of the NOAC 2009 Training material. This material includes the same Word
documents and PowerPoint presentations used by the trainers at NOAC.
Immediate Past National Chairman Brad Haddock Reflects
Immediate past national chairman, Brad Haddock, reflects over the past 10 years and the accomplishments of the Order.
Order of the Arrow Receives William T. Hornaday Gold Certificate
The ArrowCorps5 project was prominently featured in the Boy Scouts of
America's 2008 Annual Report distributed at the annual Boy Scouts of America meeting
in May. The Order of the Arrow was recognized by the BSA during the meeting
with the prestigious William T. Hornaday Gold Certificate. The William T.
Hornaday Gold Certificate is granted to organizations or individuals by the
National Council of the Boy Scouts of America for
demonstrated leadership and commitment to environmental and conservation
education of youth on a regional, national, or international level over
a minimum period of three years.
National Trails Day® - June 6, 2009
Let me guess, you just uttered the words, "I am bored," for
the first time this summer now that school is wrapping up? Never fear, the American
Hiking Society has a day just for you: National Trails Day®. National
Trails Day® is a trail awareness program from the American Hiking Society
that is taking place Saturday, June 6, 2009 in all 50 states. The event includes
education, demonstrations, workshops, and trail work projects. Learn more and find

NOAC Full Payment Due May 31, 2009
The conference fee is $395.00 for youth and adult members who
pay their total conference fee by May 31, 2009 (postmark date). Conference fees
paid after May 31, 2009, will incur a late fee. All late fees must be received
by the OA Director no later than June 30, 2009. The fee includes five night's housing,
14 meals, program and support materials, registration materials, and recognition
items during the six-day conference.
2009 Distinguished Service Award and Red Arrow Award Recipients
Announced
At the May National BSA meeting the National OA Committee announced
the 2009 recipients of the Distinguished Service Award
and the Red Arrow Award. These awards will
be presented at the 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference. Please click the

New Medical Form Posted (Required for NOAC 2009)
The BSA's new medical form will be required to all NOAC 2009
attendees. Please be sure to read the
NOAC Medical Information and have your physician fill out the latest medical
form available by
clicking here.
2009 Field Operations Guide Posted
The 2009 revision of the Field Operations Guide has been posted.
This revision includes updates to the National OA Committee, a rewrite of Chapter
3 - Lodge Assistance Program, the change to the cost of the Accident and Sickness
Insurance, a rewrite of Appendix 2 - American Indian Dance and Singing Competition,
and other changes. New fillable forms are available
for the Section Assistance Team Report, the Section Assistance Team Annual Report,
and the Section Conclave Report.
2009 Lodge Resource Material
The 2009 lodge resource materials, formerly the Lodge Resource
DVD, have now been moved from the single DVD format to a special section of the
National OA Web Site. The annual Lodge Resource Book, region training schedule,
national calendar, Lodge Finance Manual, 2008-2012 Strategic Plan, high adventure
applications, and video resources are now available.
