European Camp Staff Program
OA Scholarships Available
The aim of the European Camp Staff Program is to assist young people
in developing their leadership skills, provide an opportunity to serve
others, and to encourage intercultural learning. This is achieved by
providing the individual with a residential experience as a volunteer
staff member at a Scout center in another country.
Eleven European countries are participating in this program this summer
and offer a wide variety of opportunities for travel and making new
friends throughout the world.
The Order of the Arrow is offering a limited number of scholarships to
qualified participants (OA members ages 18-20)
for the European Camp Staff Program. As a
participant in this program your room and board is provided by the
camp in which you are working. You must participate in the program
a minimum of four weeks to qualify for OA scholarship benefits. These
benefits include $100 for every week of your actual voluntary employment
as well as your airline fare to and from the selected country. This
scholarship money will be paid to you following completion of your
participation and return to the USA.
However, the European Camp Staff Program needs not only 18-20 year olds,
it also needs people up to age 30. While the OA scholarships are available
only for OA youth members age 18-20, OA members up to age 30 are encouraged
to apply for the program. The program is available to all qualified
people age 18-30.
If you are between 18 and 30 years of age and would be interested in
the European Camp Staff Program
you may obtain a booklet and application from our International
Division. The application deadline for 2001 is April 15.
