Josh Sain Memorial
Scholarship Recipients
Billy W. Walley, Chairman of the Recognitions Subcommittee,
of the National Order of the Arrow Committee
is pleased to announce the selection of three recipients of the
Josh Sain Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was
established in 1998 to honor the
spirit and the memory of Josh Sain, a former National
Vice Chief of the Order of the
Arrow. The scholarships are provided to former National
or Regional Officers upon
completion of the successful service of their terms.
The National Committee has agreed to fund $8,000 in scholarships.
The 2001 recipients
and the amount they will receive include:
Jordan A. Hitchens will receive the sum of $3,000.
He is registered with the Hawk Mountain Council, Reading,
Pennsylvania, and the Kittatinny Lodge. He is presently
attending Saint Joseph's University and is a Freshman majoring
in Management Information Systems. He is the immediate
past National Vice Chief of the Order of the Arrow.
Scott A. Schmidt will receive the sum of $2,500.
He is registered with the Greater Niagara Frontier Council,
Buffalo, Pennsylvani, and the Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee Lodge. He
is a sophomore at Ithaca College, and is undecided in his major.
He is the immediate past Chief of the Northeast Region.
James H. Cheatham will receive the sum of $2,500.
He is registered with the West Tennessee Area Council, Jackson,
Tennessee, and the Ittawamba Lodge. He is a junior at the
University of Tennessee, majoring in Civil Engineering.
He is the immediate past Chief of the Southern Region.
The National OA Committee congratulates these fine young
representatives of the Boy Scouts
of America and the Order of the Arrow.
