2004 OA Service Grant Recipients

For the past several years, the National Order of the Arrow Committee has provided matching service grants for a limited number of projects submitted by application to the national OA office. A total of $35,000 was made available for distribution for projects in 2004. The evaluators considered the innovative scope and design of the project, how the project impacts a significant number of Scouts, and how the project enhances Cub Scouting or Boy Scouting in the council.

Congratulations to the following 12 lodges selected as the service grant recipients for 2004:

  • Siwinis Lodge, Los Angeles Area Council #33, Los Angeles, CA received $5000 to help build 100 new campsite platforms to replace those lost in the California fires.
  • Tiwahe Lodge, Desert Pacific Council #49, San Diego, CA received $5000 to help build a deck addition on the Al Silva Lodge at Mateguay Scout Reservation.
  • Tahosa Lodge, Denver Area Council #61, Denver, CO received $1600 to help construct a Learning Center at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch.
  • Kola Lodge, Longs Peak Council #62, Greeley, CO received $2000 to help expand a handicap accessible camp site at Ben Deltour Scout Ranch.
  • Kidi Kidish Lodge, Coronado Area Council #192, Salina, KS received $700 to help build a chapel at the historic Brown Memorial Scout Camp in memory of the late Monsignor Manzo.
  • Migisi Opawgan Lodge, Detroit Area Council #262, Detroit, MI received $5000 to help build and install new docks at D-bar-A Scout Ranch.
  • Na Tsi Hi Lodge, Monmouth Council #347, Oakhurst, NJ received $2250 to help build three lean-to-shelters at Forestburg Scout Reservation.
  • Tindeuchen Lodge, Erie Shores Council #460, Toledo, OH received $800 to help build a wheelchair ramp to provide access to the Council Scout Museum.
  • Unami Lodge, Cradle of Liberty Council #525, Philadelphia, PA received $4950 to help renovate Baker Lodge and preserve the ceremonial grounds at Treasure Island.
  • Gyantwachia Lodge, Chief Cornplanter Council #538, Warren, PA received $400 to help replace the decking on the Council office.
  • Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge, Blue Ridge Council #551, Greenville, SC received $5000 to help establish a superior marksmanship facility at Camp Old Indian.
  • Tatokainyanka, Central Wyoming Council #638, Casper, WY received $2300 to help restore a 1920's era cabin for Camp Buffalo Bill.

Respective council offices will receive letter notification from the national OA office in the near future.
