2006 NOAC Information Area Opens
The 2006 National Order of the Arrow Conference is coming to Michigan State
University July 29 - August 30. This is the biggest OA event in the nation and
it is quickly approaching. A brand new National Order of the Arrow Conference
Information Area is now available on the National OA Web Site. Arrowmen,
Contingent Leadership, Staff, Parents, and Professionals can find the resources
they need to plan, promote, and register for NOAC 2006. Resources currently
include videos, flash presentations, advertising flyers, posters, contingent
leader resources, and staff information. The NOAC information area will be
updated as new information becomes available, so check out the resources
available now and come back as more become available.
Guide for Officers and Advisers is now available online
The National Order of the Arrow Committee voted to make materials more readily
available to lodge leaders. As a result, the Guide for Officers and
Advisers is now available online instead of through the National Supply
division. This book provides support for lodge and chapter leaders. The online
distribution allows better access for more Arrowmen. The guide reflects the
current policies concerning the organization and administration of the Order of
the Arrow Lodge. All lodge and chapter officers and advisers should have a copy.
National OA Committee to Provide $35,000 in Grants
2006 Applications Due Oct. 31, 2005
One of the four fold purposes of the Order of the Arrow is "to crystallize the
Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service
to others." It is with this spirit of cheerful service to others that the Order
proudly continues for a ninth year the matching service grant program. For 2006,
the National Order of the Arrow Committee is making available $35,000 in
matching grant money to lodges for camp or service center projects in their
local council. All Service Grant Applications
must be submitted to the national office by October 31st.
Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations Due Oct. 31, 2005
Nominations for The Legacy of Servant Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award are
now due. Forms must be received in the national office prior to October 31st of
the year prior to a NOAC. All
nomination forms for the 2006 NOAC
presentation must be received by October 31st, 2005. Nominate those
extraordinary Arrowmen who have deeply influenced and significantly contributed
to the vision, direction, and growth of the Order of the Arrow.
Revised Guide to Inductions now available
The 2005 revision of the Guide to Inductions is now available online.
This updated version of the OA's primary resource for Inductions adds several
new items and includes numerous revisions. Some of the new sections include
information on JumpStart, Assisting Scouts with Special Needs, and Ceremony
Evaluator training. Existing material has been reviewed and updated. Several
Appendixes are now available in MS Word format, so lodges can modify them for
local use. Lodges and chapters are encouraged to download and use this resource
with their officers, committees, and advisers.
90th Anniversary Patch and Certificate
Purchase 90th anniversary patches and certificates for your lodge members by
visiting the OA Trading Post. Lodges are encouraged to conduct rededication
ceremonies marking the 90th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow this year, and
these items are a great way to commemorate the event.
