The Outdoor Adventure Place (TOAP)
For Arrowmen at NOAC walking around and unsure of where to go--the Camping and High Adventure Committee has the solution for you! Filled with fun, excitement, and challenges to keep you busy, the Camping and High Adventure areas are happening places. There are many program areas for you to explore including a ‘Camp Chef ’ booth where cooking demonstrations run nonstop and the food is free.
But wait, there’s still more! The Camping and High Adventure committee, under the direction of CVC Linley Collins, run some cool aquatics programs as well. Kayaking instruction and classes go on in the mornings at the Royar Diving Well, and free kayaking is available in the afternoons. Scuba diving is the other high adventure program offered, which is located at the HPER building in the pool.
A number of classes are offered too, including the very popular Wilderness Medicine class that teaches skills and techniques of surviving in the wilderness using only the resources available in the natural world. Another class, Small Shiny Objects for the Mind, shows off the latest outdoor equipment and explains how they are used.
New today is the Camping and High Adventure Expo, located in the Tennis Pavilion, which features some of the top vendors of outdoor equipment in the world. Special seminars will be offered on how to use their products as well. With tons of booths to see, many raffles, and free give-aways, it is definitely a place that you will want to visit today and again over the next few days.
