At last year’s National Conference, participants had to seek out information booths to find last minute updates to the schedule. Was there a canceled or delayed event? A new location? Chances are the delegate missed their chance to enjoy that part of the conference.

At this year’s NCLS, the Communications committee will premiere a text messaging update system. This system will allow conference attendees to receive up to the minute schedule updates and changes, emergency information and breaking news on their mobile phone.

During orientation sessions today, every delegate and staff member will have the opportunity to opt in to the service, which will provide approximately two to four text message updates per day. Joining requires only a cell phone capable of receiving texts during NCLS, and it gives you an unparallel ability to receive the latest conference information. Conference management will send new messages to you in case of emergency, a pressing schedule change or a major event location change.

All of the numbers collected during the conference will be kept confidential and destroyed once the conference ends. If you miss signing up today, feel free to stop by the Communications office in Maple Room in the Indiana Memorial Union anytime during the NCLS to get added to the list.
