The Washington and Jefferson National forests comprise nearly 1.8 million acres which together constitute one of the largest blocks of public land in the eastern United States spanning Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Because of its unique landscapes, the projects for this particular initiative are much different than for the previous sites. Arrowmen will be split up into two divisions to carry out these tasks. The first group will work to construct a five-mile horseback trail network and the second will build a trail from the park’s marina out to the beachfront. The recreational opportunities are particularly exciting at the park. Not only will Arrowmen be able to go whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and biking—they will also be able to see some historic landmarks in the process. Such historic sites include the famous Appomattox Court House, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello Mansion, and the Stonewall Jackson house. All of these opportunities will combine for a priceless adventure that Arrowmen will never forget.
