July 19th, Day Thirteen - Operation Canada

We awoke to a cloudy sky, where we went though the normal practices of the morning. After we were packed up, we decided to take a quick day trip to a new country.

Steal steak marking US territory
A stake making the land to be on US soil.

Our campsite was in the United States, though very near the border of Canada. In fact, Canada was about 200 yards away! We decided to take a mission to Canada. We left our gear in our campsite and took our three canoes and landed on a Canadian island. It was official, we have stepped foot in Canada!

After taking in the moment with photos and glory, we returned to the United States (just across the lake) and picked up our gear to go to our last campsite of the trip. It was a sad feeling traveling to the last campsite, but an excitement for home was starting to develop in everyone's heart.

Traveling to Canada.

We had lunch and paddled the rest of the afternoon to a campsite by the Northern Tier High Adventure Base. We set up camp and started to cook our last dinner.

This dinner was the biggest meal of them all, as we had some food left over from the trek. If dinner was not enough, our desserts were quite filling; cheese cake and muffins. No one went hungry that night.

Before we went to sleep, a clash of thunder filled our ears as rain immediately began to pour. The wind picked up and we dashed to the dining fly to take shelter while we had our last reflection of the Voyage.

With the sound of the rain splattering on my tent, I fell into a deep sleep.
