This was the Official 1998 National Order of the Arrow Conference web site (http://www.oa-bsa.org). The main goals of this web site were to communicate official, approved information about NOAC 1998 to Arrowmen who have web access, and to provide a look at the Conference to those back home.

The site was produced by the web team of the NOAC Communications and Public Relations Committee. The committee was led by Conference Vice Chief Lance McAlister, and Lead Adviser Bob Szczys. The web team was chaired by Doug Kupec, and advised by Joe Glenski.

The 1998 NOAC was the very first National Conference to use a web site! Planning for this project started in March of 1997, with the first staff being recruited at the National Jamboree later that summer. The web site budget was approved in September, and the first pages went on line in November 1997.

As part of its mission, the web team worked live from the conference to provide a look at what was happening to those back home. During the event the team took thousands of pictures and created over 200 pages, posting daily updates all week.

With the conclusion of NOAC, the site went through a transition to become the Official National Order of the Arrow Web Site.

Site Statistics

During the week of the conference and the following weekend (August 2-9, 1998), the Official NOAC web site saw a total of 117,706 hits, averaging over 700 hits per hour. The peak single day saw 23,118 hits, or about 963 per hour.

Prior to the Conference, from November 1997 to August 2, 1998, the Official NOAC web site had been available for a little over eight months. The site saw a total of 125,564 hits over that time, averaging 497 requests a day or about 20 per hour. It had been visited from a total of 10,545 different computer hosts.
