Q: I was elected to the Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow sometime between 1953 and 1957. Apparently, the Council office does not keep records or information about the Order of the Arrow. I am looking for the date of when I was inducted into the Vigil Honor and the Indian name I was given. Is there a national repository of Order of the Arrow Vigil Membership records?

A: The OA national office keeps records of those members awarded the Vigil honor, but the records are incomplete as some have been lost.

You should have your lodge staff adviser contact the national OA office and ask for a printout of Vigil Honor members for the lodge and time period you mention. They may be able to find your records.

Or, if your old lodge still exists, you can contact them directly and see if they have records of their old Vigil members other than the ones the council office kept (some lodges do).
